  • 2 egg whites
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • Miniature semisweet chocolate pieces

Make It

1. Heat oven to 300 degrees F. Line large baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

2. Beat egg whites, vanilla and cream of tartar in bowl until soft peaks form. Slowly add sugar, beating until stiff and glossy. Spoon into pastry bag fitted with medium star tip. Pipe 2-1/2-inch upside-down question marks onto ungreased baking sheets, filling in bottom of shape for body. Place chocolate pieces on each head for eye and beak.

3. Bake in 300 degree F oven 15 minutes or until baked through. Turn off oven; let cookies dry in oven with door closed for about 30 minutes. Makes 4 dozen turtledoves.
