Servings: 6 to 8

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 3/4 cups low-fat milk
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 4 strips cooked bacon, crumbled

Make It

1. Heat oven to 200 degrees F and preheat the waffle iron. In a medium bowl, help kids measure out and whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and baking soda. In another bowl, whisk the milk, melted butter, and eggs until incorporated.

2. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until combined, then stir in the shredded cheese and crumbled bacon.

3. Pour about 1/2 cup batter onto the center of your waffle iron and cook until golden and fluffy. Transfer the waffle to a baking sheet and keep warm in the oven. Repeat with remaining batter. Serve with maple syrup.
