Cheddar Straws

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry (1/2 of 17.3-ounce package), thawed following package directions
  • 1 tablespoon water, mixed with egg
  • 1/3 cup finely shredded sharp cheddar
  • 1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper

Make It

1. Heat oven to 400 degrees F. Unroll pastry on floured surface. Roll to 14 x 10-inch rectangle. Cut in half lengthwise (two 14 x 5-inch rectangles). Brush halves with egg wash. Sprinkle one half with cheese and pepper. Place remaining half, egg wash side down, on filled half. Gently roll with rolling pin to seal. Cut crosswise into 28 strips, 1/2 inch wide. Place on ungreased baking sheet; twist. Brush lightly with egg wash.

2. Bake in 400 degrees F oven 10 minutes, until browned.
