The product contains an undissolved ingredient, citrus flavonoid, which may be a choking hazard to young children. According to a recall notice from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the water contains "the presence of an undissolved ingredient, citrus flavonoid." This could be a choking hazard for infants. DG™ Baby Gripe Water is an orally-taken herbal supplement with ginger and fennel extracts used to relieve stomach discomfort in babies. In spite of the recall issued by manufacturer Kingston Pharma, LLC, the products isn’t considered hazardous. But some babies may not properly swallow the citrus flavonoid component, potentially leading to choking. Choking Hazards and Your Baby "To date, Kingston Pharma LLC has received one report of a one-week old infant having difficulty when swallowing the product and three complaints attributed to the undissolved citrus flavonoid," according to the FDA statement. All lots of Baby Gripe Water, which are sold in 4-ounce amber bottles, are affected by the recall. Kingston Pharma, LLC, recommends that parents discard the affected products, which are sold at Dollar General and have a UPC Code 8 5495400246 3.
