How to Be Pregnant Like a Kardashian
The famous fam has doled out quite a bit of pregnancy advice over the years.
From pretty outrageous maternity wear to some, um, interesting sentiments on delivery, the Kardashian clan hasn't shied away from the spotlight when it comes to pregnancy. While we're sure that Kim and Kourtney are great moms, we can't help but scratch our heads at some things the celeb sisters have done or said while expecting.
If you want to keep up with the Kardashians during your nine months, here's some pointers from Kim and Kourtney themselves on how to carry a baby like a K.
Fully embrace those mood swings.
If you're going to be pregnant like a Kardashian, you must embrace those crazy all-over-the-place hormones that make you love and hate the process of carrying a baby. In a blog on her website, Kim claimed that "pregnancy is the worst experience of my life!" She added that everything that could swell, did swell. "Maybe it's the swelling, the backaches, or just the complete mindf*k of how your body expands and nothing fits," she wrote. "I just always feel like I'm not in my own skin." In the end, though, she admits, "it's 100 percent worth it and more!!!"
And don't forget that social media is a platform for your emotions, too. Here, just a few of pregnant Kim's classic tweets:
Crowdsource your baby names.
The matriarch of the K clan, Kris Jenner, along with then-hubby Bruce Jenner, asked Extra fans to write in with baby name suggestions while they were expecting their second daughter together (spoiler alert: They named her Kendall). Watch the throwback video over on YouTube.
Be proud—and bold!—with your pregnancy figure.
If your hubs isn't as fashion-forward as Kanye, don't worry. You can still have some pregnancy swagger—just follow some general rules for dressing like a preg Kardashian: skin tight is best, jumpsuits are a go, pregnancy cleavage is good to show, floor-length is always in, heels are okay (even with that previously mentioned swelling), and of course, let your guy make the wardrobe choices for you.
In an interview with Elle, Kim admitted that her first pregnancy with North was maybe a little too fashion crazy, but then Kanye centered in on her style: "It was mainly him figuring it out—what my look was and what I was comfortable in. So now I've had two years to really come into my own and have my own style." The look now is "more simple," she says. "I figured out a formula of what works."
...and don't be afraid to bare it all...
Both Kim and Kourtney made sure nothing was left to the imagination when it came to their pregnant bodies.
Kourtney posed in the buff for DuJour magazine:
While Kim took to Instagram, posting a nude selfie with the caption, "I've learned to love my body at every stage!"
...or raid your little sister's closet for maternity wear!
While pregnant with son Reign, Kourtney posted this bump-flaunting shot to Instagram. The caption? "Do you like my shirt @kyliejenner ?"
When shopping for maternity wear, make sure to bring along your celeb besties.
First-time mama-to-be Chrissy Teigen (and handsome hubs John Legend) was schooled on the importance of trendy maternity wear by Kim Kardashian and husband Kanye West. They didn't spill the goods on what Teigen selected, but Kim did share a cute shot of Kanye and daughter North snoozing during the shopping trip.
"So today we went baby shopping with @johnlegend & @chrissyteigen Kanye & North were a little too quiet. We found them passed out in the middle of the store," Kim captioned the photo.
Keep your hopes up for that magical pregnancy diet.
We may all be in agreement with Kim on this one: Why can't we have whatever we want when we're pregnant? In an interview with Ryan Seacrest, she complained: "I was waiting for this amazing experience where I could just do whatever I want, eat whatever I want, feel great, and it just hasn't been that way." But if you want to remain hopeful about late-night takeout or salty chips at 3 a.m. just because, we bet Kim would be supportive. Even if it might go straight to your baby bump.
Give in to your pregnancy cravings.
Though Kourtney has said she's "super cautious" about what she feeds her kids, even making homemade, organic baby food for her three babies, she's all for embracing pregnancy cravings. "I try to eat pretty healthy, but I think it's fun and important to listen to your cravings. I develop a thing for Nilla Wafer cookies every time [I'm pregnant]. I have no idea why!" During her third pregnancy, with son Reign, she admitted she was craving cheese and pickle sandwiches. "Everyone thinks I'm gross when I order them," she said.
Sister Kim, on the other hand, craved In-N-Out burgers and cheesy fries while pregnant with daughter North. She posted a pic of her indulgence to Instagram with the hashtag #EnjoyingEveryBite.
If you want to be pregnant like a Kardashian, indulging in those cravings is what a good mom does: you're giving baby what he wants. And hey, after baby comes, you can definitely hire a personal training to get you back into shape. Right?
Get a psychic's help with infertility.
Jokes aside, we love how outspoken Kim has been about struggling to get pregnant. With so many couples trying to conceive, she's shed light on an issue many aren't brave enough to talk about. That being said, Kim unsuccessfully tried to seek reassurance about trying to get pregnant—or on anything really—from psychic John Edwards. While he said he didn't see her conceiving, she proved him wrong.
Ask for the push present you really want.
Kim is a firm believer in push presents, or the gifts some mothers get from their partners after giving birth. "We women go through an entire pregnancy carrying a baby...of course it only makes sense that we get something amazing to show how amazing we are! LOL!" she wrote in a blog post while pregnant with son Saint. After receiving a wrist full of Cartier bracelets after giving birth to daughter North, Kim revealed she had her eye on a Lorraine Schwartz diamond choker the second time around. The cost? A cool $1 million.
Stay far, far away from Google.
Just like Googling your every ache and pain, taking to the Internet when something strange happens to your body during pregnancy is a bad idea. As Kim told Ryan Seacrest: "I get really paranoid [and] I start Googling things. The things that come up are really scary. It just freaks me out all the time."
Finally: Never, ever give up your favorite pair of shoes.
Did we mention Kim isn't a fan of the swelling that comes along with pregnancy? Still, she'd never let something so trivial come between her and a favorite pair of shoes. She posted this pic to Instagram while pregnant with daughter North.
