Here is the skinny on what you can pop and what you should stop. Acetaminophen such as Tylenol is safe and recommended by doctors during pregnancy. You can even take the extra strength kind just don't take more than directed on the bottle. Sad, but true, lots of popular over-the-counter meds can cause developmental problems in your baby and some could even cause miscarriage. Stay away from ibuprofen and aspirin, active ingredient in products such as Advil and Excedrin. In the end, double check any medication with your doctor or pharmacist even if you think it should be fine.
