Q: What will happen if I pass my due date?

A: Many women go past their due date, and only about 5% of women actually deliver on their due date. Your doctor will order special monitoring, called non-stress Tests, to make sure it is safe to let the pregnancy proceed. Once a woman completes 42 weeks of pregnancy, the risk of stillbirth increases and your doctor will discuss the need for delivery, which usually happens by way of labor induction.
