If you blinked, you might have missed Blake Lively's pregnancy. Between her announcement in October, and her delivery before the new year, there were just a few short months in which the public got to share in the joy of the star's burgeoning bump. And now that her baby with hubby Ryan Reynolds is on the outside, I'm going to miss the pregnancy phase!
Here's why: Blake totally won the maternity fashion game. From daring red carpet looks, like the now-famous pale yellow Gucci down with the plunging neckline, to everyday street style, she nailed it every single time.
And sure, maybe some of those looks weren't exactly budget friendly or otherwise attainable for us mere mortals. But plenty of the maternity style concepts she strutted were accessible and imitation-worthy in the real world. For instance, the mixed-pattern outfit she wore when she revealed her pregnancy on her website, Preserve (pictured here): breezy, chic, comfy, totally doable.
And the ways she worked accessories—like trimmed capes and statement jewelry—set an example for how we can all express ourselves through fashion, no matter our stage of pregnancy, and no matter our budget and taste preferences.
In short, I loved watching Blake parade around in her pregnancy style chicness, and I'm sad that phase is over. Fortunately, she's made clear she wants many more kids—so hopefully we'll see it again before too long!
