Seth Meyers Shares His Second Baby's Completely Wild Delivery Story
The comedian and his wife Alexi Ashe welcomed their second son over the weekend, and on Monday night, Meyers devoted a monologue on his show to the gasp-worthy birth story.
Seth Meyers is a dad again! On Monday, April 9, the Late Night with Seth Meyers host shared the happy news that he and his wife Alexi Ashe welcomed their second son the day prior. Their first baby, Ashe Olsen, now 2, arrived in what Meyers' described as a fairly quick delivery, but, "move over, that story!" he said before explaining how his newborn, Axel Strahl, came into the world.
On what had otherwise been a fairly calm Sunday, Alexi's contractions came on quick and strong. Thankfully, her mom, Joan, was there at the time, as was the couple's doula. The whole crew was on their way to the hospital in an Uber when Meyers says the baby was basically in Alexi's sweatpants. “We basically get to the steps of our building, we're in the lobby and we're walking down the steps and my wife just says, ‘I can't get in the car, I'm going to have the baby right now, the baby is coming,'" he explained. "The only way I can describe how my wife looked was she looked like someone who was hiding a baby in a pair of sweatpants. It was like somebody was trying to like sneak a baby on a plane."
By the time the proud dad was connected with 911, Axel had already made his debut. Still, New York firefighters showed up to cut the umbilical cord and give Alexi oxygen before transporting her to the hospital. And neighbors helped out by bringing warm towels and blankets. So crazy—and so awesome!

As he wrapped up his amazing story, Meyers shared, “I just want to thank my beautiful wife Alexi, who is twice now an incredible rock star with these incredible deliveries and stories. And thank you to everyone here for indulging me on this crazy story and welcome Axel Strahl Meyers to the world.”
Congratulations to the new family of four!
