After her sister Venus Williams seemed to insinuate that Serena is having a girl, the tennis star took to Instagram to set the record straight.
First comes a pregnancy announcement and then comes a gender reveal, right? Well, not necessarily—especially when you're talking about famous parents-to-be who are particularly private, or who would actually like to be surprised when they give birth! And it looks like tennis dynamo and expectant mom Serena Williams falls into the latter category. Earlier this week, though, it seemed like her sister, Venus Williams, had spilled the beans.
Venus gave an interview to Eurosport, and while talking about her sister's baby, opted for a female pronoun and girl names. "She's going to call me 'favorite aunt,'" she said. "We're all like, 'Baby V, baby Lyn, baby Isha.' We all want the baby to be named after us."
But before she could find herself drowning in tons of tiny pink tennis gear for her L.O., Williams set the record straight by taking to Instagram with a written note for her followers. "I think the surprise of knowing what you are going to have on that very special day you give birth is prob the best surprise you can ever have," the four-time Olympic gold medalist said.

Serena's explanation makes perfect sense—and is also pretty entertaining, in that she's trying to bribe her loved ones with baby names. But whether it's a girl or a boy for Serena and her fiancé, Reddit cofounder Alexis Ohanian, this famous kid is going to be majorly adored by her or his aunt, entire family, and tons of fans!
