Celebs do love to bare those nude baby bumps, don't they? There was Tila Tequila, of course, who shared her stuff on Facebook. And then there was Christina Aguilera, who bared it all for V magazine. Both said their intention was to celebrate their body's wondrous abilities and beauty during pregnancy.
The latest star to flash the bare pregnant belly on Instagram? It's Alicia Keys, who covered her breasts with her hands, and decked her baby bump with a white painted peace sign. And she introduced a brand new reason for such a post.
The singer captioned her photo, "It's you and me on a mission to create a kinder and more peaceful world. The #WeAreHere Movement begins today." She also provided a link to learn more about the reference.
Turns out, it's a movement birthed (ahem) by Keys, with the intention to galvanize her fans to support a whole variety of causes for social justice, including education for girls around the world, gay rights, healthcare, and racial equality. "I want to gather an army," she told the New York Times over the weekend, adding, "It's time to get people's attention. People won't be able to ignore this visual."
She's certainly right so far, at least as far as "likes" are concerned: More than 116,000 people have already double tapped the striking image as I'm writing this. Let's hope all those hearts translate to real-world impact, too!
