The "scene" opens in a family's kitchen, where a man and woman are standing with their daughter. It's not quite clear how they get the gist of what she's trying to tell them until the grandma-to-be demands,"Are you pregnant?"
And before her daughter can even answer her, she starts screaming and running around the room like she's just been informed she won a billion dollars. Twice.
Then her excitement turns to... sadness? The overwhelmed soon-to-be grandma drops the floor and starts sobbing. Is she okay? Someone get this woman a Xanax!
Her daughter, you know, the one whom this entire pregnancy thing is about, finally goes over to her mom and says, "Get up." The two embrace, and the video ends. And I'm exhausted.
Meanwhile, when I told my mom I was pregnant, she didn't talk for 24-hours. That's how shocked she was. It was as if she'd slipped into a coma at the mere thought of becoming a grandmother.
I think a perfect reaction to a pregnancy reveal would be somewhere in between this woman's emotional meltdown, and my mother's semi-fugue state. Of course, this grandma's hysterics make for a much better video.
How did your parents react to the news you were pregnant?
