Marion Cotillard took to Instagram yesterday to share the news that she is pregnant with her second child. And while normally such an announcement would be cause for celebration, the French actress—who stars with Brad Pitt in the upcoming movie Allied—was forced to bury the lead while revealing her truth, after getting caught up in the rush of rumors surrounding the Brangelina divorce.
"This is going to be my first and only reaction to the whirlwind news that broke 24 hours ago and that I was swept up into," she wrote in a long caption below a peaceful image of birds taking flight. "I am not used to commenting on things like this nor taking them seriously but as this situation is spiraling and affecting people I love, I have to speak up."
She then went on to reveal that she is expecting a baby with French actor/director Guillaume Canet, her long-time partner with whom she shares a 5-year-old son.
"He is my love, my best friend, the only one that I need," she wrote. "To those who have indicated that I am devastated, I am very well thank you. And to all the media and the haters who are quick to pass judgment, I sincerely wish you a swift recovery. Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this very tumultuous moment."
So. Much. Class.
It's truly a shame that Cotillard had to announce her pregnancy in the midst of such a firestorm, but the actress has handled the entire debacle with a pretty bada*s display of strength and dignity. That baby's got one awesome mama right there! #Respect
