Back in September, Kim Kardashian confirmed that she and husband Kanye West are expecting baby #3 via surrogate. Now, the reality star and entrepreneur is sharing more details about the pregnancy. For instance, Kim revealed to the panel of The Real on Thursday, November 16 that for the first few weeks of the pregnancy, the surrogate didn't know she was carrying Kim and Kanye's LO.
In fact, Kim could have chosen not to reveal herself to the surrogate at all. But ultimately, she felt it was best for her to do so.
"She didn’t know at the beginning," Kim explained. "She didn’t know. You could do it totally anonymously. You could go that route. And I just felt like, whoever is carrying my baby, what if they weren’t a fan of me or my husband? What if they didn’t want to be carrying our baby? I wanted to give them that choice, and be proud and on the same page. I wanted a relationship with her."
It's awesome that Kim trusted her intuition on this. Sounds like she was true to herself and what she felt was the right thing to do in the situation.
As it turned out, the surrogate was actually very much into the fact that she's carrying Kim's baby. She had watched enough Keeping Up With the Kardashians to know that Kim had struggled through her two previous pregnancies with North, 4, and Saint, 2, so she understood the back story of the situation, which is really pretty unique and interesting in and of itself.
"She was really excited," Kim explained on The Real. "She was someone who had watched the show – not like a super fan, that it would have been uncomfortable, but she’d seen my struggle and seen how open I was about it, so she was really proud to do it."
While becoming friends with your surrogate isn't necessarily for every mom -- to each their own! -- it's heartening to hear that the two women were able to connect like this. Surely, it's making for even more joy surrounding this already-famous baby girl's birth!
