The mom of two, who is expecting her third child with husband Kanye West via surrogate this winter, addressed why her surrogate wasn't at her baby shower.
Kim Kardashian Explained Why Her Surrogate Wasn't at Her Baby Shower
Last weekend, Kim Kardashian got tons of press for her glamorous baby shower, which featured gorgeous cherry blossom decor and a VIP guest list (Chrissy Teigen and sisters Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner were there!). And since Kim is expecting baby #3 with husband Kanye West via a surrogate, there has been plenty of curiosity surrounding whether or not the surrogate was at the baby bash.
Kim addressed the question on Thursday's episode of The Real. When Loni Love asked if she invited her surrogate to the party, Kim replied, “I did not. I introduced her to my family earlier that day, and I just thought … I don’t know, it was a weird decision to have to make. Of course I would have wanted her to be there, and be a part of it, but I hadn’t really gone that far in explaining it to my kids yet.”
What it boiled down to was feeling as though she should explain it to daughter North, 4, and son Saint, 2. “So I have to figure that out first before they really see, and then if we’re celebrating, you know, her … I just wanted to celebrate the baby," Kim said. "I think I have to explain it to my kids first, and figure out how I’m going to explain it to them.”
She went onto explain that she and West "love" their surrogate. "I have the best relationship with my surrogate,” the proud mom shared. “She's so nice. She’s the perfect person to do this for my family.”
If you keep up with Kim (haha), then you know she was advised by her doctors not to carry any more children after suffering from the pregnancy complication placenta accreta while she was expecting Saint and North. But while this pregnancy has been less stressful physically, Kim told Entertainment Tonight that it's been difficult emotionally.
“Anyone that says or thinks it is just the easy way out is just completely wrong. I think it is so much harder to go through it this way, because you are not really in control,” she explained. “Obviously you pick someone that you completely trust and that you have a good bond and relationship with, but it is still … knowing that I was able to carry my first two babies and not my baby now, it’s hard for me. It’s definitely a harder experience than I anticipated just in the control area.”

Understandable! One bit of silver lining, though, seems to be that Kim's definitely promoting more conversation around surrogacy. Cheers to that -- and congrats again to the growing Kardashian-West family!
