Thanks to years of starring on Full House as Jesse Katsopolis, who began the long-running sitcom as Uncle Jesse but went onto become a parent alongside wife Rebecca (played by Lori Loughlin), John Stamos has a reputation for being good with kids. But in real life, the 54-year-old actor had yet to experience fatherhood. That's all about to change. Stamos and his fiancée Caitlin McHugh are expecting their first child, People reports.

Stamos sat down for an episode of The Jess Cagle Interview with People Editor-in-Chief Jess Cagle and shared that he and McHugh had "talked about" having a baby in the past, and things just fell into place for the couple. “We have the same morals and the same values, that all clicked nicely. So we said, ‘Oh, well, maybe we should have a family,’" the actor shared.

Stamos recalled that McHugh suggested they get married before having a baby, to which he replied, "Why?" and the 31-year-old model and actress responded in jest, "Because you’re old.”

The Fuller House star popped the question on October 22 at Disneyland by making a short film of romantic moments from animated Pixar and Disney films, ending with The Little Mermaid and changing Sebastian's "just kiss the girl" line to "just ask the girl." Too cute!

I asked...she said yes! ...And we lived happily ever after💍

“The [pregnancy] happened," Stamos explained. "Then I said, I better have a ring on her finger because it’s the right thing to do, and I wanted to marry her anyway. So I called her parents to ask, and it was like, ‘You better!’ “

McHugh told People of sharing her big announcement with Stamos: “The look on John’s face when I told him we were pregnant was priceles. It was the look of a man who has wanted a family of his own but wasn’t sure it was going to happen for him. Now it is!”

And now that it is, Stamos is fully indulging in predicting what kind of father he'll be. “I’ll be a fun dad," he shared. "I’ve been practicing for a long time. I’ve done every schtick you can do with a baby on TV … all the bits and jokes and diaper gags. I’ll probably just do all that stuff.”

Congrats to the happy couple!
