Sure it all worked out, but...IAN!

"[He] threw out all my birth control pills," the actress—who also admitted that she wasn't initially even totally sure she wanted to be a mom—explained with a laugh back in May 2017, after the couple revealed their pregnancy, on Dr. Berlin's Informed Pregnancy Podcast.

"Unbeknownst to poor Nikki, she didn't realize that I was going to go in her purse and take out her birth control," Somerhalder chimed in. "By the way, it was the beginning of the pack, so I had to pop all those suckers out."

Hold up. Isn't this, like, the epitome of every woman's worst nightmare? I mean, I get that no one has the right to judge the inner workings of another couple's relationship, and in this case, Reed seems to be cool with the way things went down. But no one has the right to mess with someone else's fertility plans, either—even if they are your spouse, and they did promise to love you for better or worse. So guys... please don't mess with another woman's birth control under any circumstances, OK?

The internet, of course, blew up at the news that Somerhalder had taken his wife's reproductive rights quite literally into his own hands:

Pretty harsh. But not, IMHO, unmerited. Because while Somerhalder made sure to explain that he and his wife had already made the decision to have kids before he flushed all those pills out down the toilet, he also added that he has a 6-minute video of Reed freaking out while he does so.

"There's a video?" Reed asks, incredulous.

Yikes! That doesn't sound like consent to me. And while we're happy this couple is now revelling in the birth of their beautiful little girl, let's hope Somerhalder is smart enough to delete the evidence of him betraying his wife's trust before his daughter accidentally discovers it on his phone one day.
