Unless you've been living under a rock, you've probably heard about Kim's difficult first two pregnancies in which she suffered from placenta accreta, where the placenta grows so deeply into the uterus it doesn't detach naturally after delivery. The condition can lead to infertility: a hysterectomy is often needed, and even if the uterus can be saved, it can be left with significant scarring that makes future pregnancies impossible.
Miraculously, Kim was able to get pregnant a second time, giving birth to son Saint in 2015. Because she had placenta accreta again, her uterus was further damaged, and despite undergoing a procedure to try to fix it so she could get pregnant a third time, her luck ran out. Doctors warned her it would be unsafe for her to carry another child, and on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the 36-year-old told mom Kris Jenner, "I've come to the conclusion in my mind that I can't carry another one. So now I want to explore surrogacy."
Based on the latest reports, it looks like Kimye is moving forward with the surrogacy plan! While it isn't the third pregnancy experience Kim hoped for, her dream of growing her family can be realized thanks to the miracle of modern medicine. And, of course, we get to speculate on what interesting name the Kardashian Wests will give their newest member. I'm thinking that Miracle would be a pretty apt, moniker, actually. What do you think?
