Celebrating a newborn by orchestrating a themed photo shoot is an adorable trend new moms have loved for years, but one Arizona couple is using the opportunity to shed light on just how difficult their conceiving journey was. This powerful image featuring hundreds of IVF needles perfectly depicts the harsh reality behind procreating that too many individuals face, while celebrating why the battle is worth it.

The image shot by Packer Family Photography can be found on their Facebook page with the caption, “This is the first time I have been asked to do a photo like this! I was honored and wanted to create something special! Mom said, ‘4 years, 7 attempts, 3 miscarriages and 1,616 shots.’”

So, who is the angelic miracle baby wrapped in a symbolic rainbow swaddle? That would be 2-week-old London O’Neill, the daughter of Kimberly and Patricia O’Neill. According to Fox News, the couple—who welcomed their daughter on August 3rd—began their pregnancy attempts in February of 2014. The needles in the photograph are the result of years of IVF and Heparin shots which are taken twice a day and work as a blood thinner after Patricia—who decided to carry the baby—was diagnosed with a blood-clotting condition called Factor V Leiden along with inflammation markers, low vitamin D levels, and an enzyme deficiency.

Fox News also reports that Kimberly had been saving the syringes ever since the beginning of the couple’s IVF journey in order to do the photoshoot. They never imagined it would take that many needles over the course of four years to successfully conceive and carry to full term, costing the couple a total of $40,000.

Despite years of pain and disappointment to the point of almost giving up, London finally came into this world and the O’Neills’ birth photo is being reigned as a symbol of hope and perseverance for those undergoing the emotional and physical battle that comes with IVF treatments. With 5.2K comments, 61K shares, and 80K likes on Facebook, the public’s reaction resulted in an overwhelming wave of support from those who deeply resonate with the image.

Congratulations to the Kimberly and Patricia for completing their journey and finally receiving the gift that is London. Thank you for sharing this enlightening image with proof that hardship can result in dreams coming true.
