Vanessa Lachey's 'DWTS' Performance Honored Her Son Phoenix's Emergency Arrival
The mom of three shared the emotional story of her son's premature birth.
There's been a lot of buzz coming out of Dancing With The Stars this season, as husband and wife Vanessa and Nick Lachey compete against each other to take home the coveted Mirror Ball. There's also been lots of gossip surrounding the supposed feud between Vanessa and her pro dance partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy. But you couldn't tell by their performance on the competition's Most Memorable Year episode last night, when the duo danced a powerful rumba together after the mom of three shared the emotional story of her son Phoenix's premature birth.
"I was in the hospital on bedrest and then my water broke," Vanessa began, breaking down. "I was only 29 weeks. I was on the operating bed and I looked up and I didn't know a single face. And I remembered thinking 'I hope the baby's okay and don't worry about me. Just make him okay'."

Phoenix spent six weeks in the NICU with Vanessa by his side until he was finally able to come home and join big sibs Camden, 5 and Brooklyn, 2. And now, at 10 months, he's a healthy baby boy!
"Here is this little baby boy, Phoenix Robert Lachey, making our family whole," she said. "And making me see what this beautiful life is really, really about. 2017... the year that our family was complete."
