Less money spent on gas means more funds for Target purchases, right?
We can’t help but be obsessed with Target—they always have everything we need right when we need it. But let’s be real, we don’t love the often overcrowded aisles and stuffy, superstore vibe. Luckily, we can now have the best of both worlds because Target is launching same-day delivery—and we are still pinching ourselves!
If you haven’t been keeping up with your Target news, the company purchased online grocery delivery service, Shipt, last December and we are starting to see the benefits. This luxury is not yet nationwide, but Target is testing out the new Shipt membership-based service for costumers residing in parts of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Alabama, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
A Shipt membership (which will cost you $99 for a yearly subscription and $14 for a monthly subscription) allows you free same-day shipping on all orders over $35—all you must do is use the Target app or order off the online site. (Any order under $35 comes with a $7 fee.)
Shipt sends you live updates from the aisles and ensures product inspection because Target knows you’re trusting them to pick out the highest quality must-haves—just as you would. Deliveries can be expected to arrive in as little as an hour. Just be warned online prices are subject to change if the in-store prices are different.
For those who would never compromise on their in-store experience, Target is looking to hire 100,000 personal shoppers just for online customers. Not only are homebodies benefiting but Target is giving back to the community by creating more jobs—simply genius.
Yes, it’s heartbreaking we can’t all capitalize on this as of right now, but it doesn’t seem like the rest of America has to wait too long. Depending on its success, Shipt services will begin to spread across the country in the upcoming months. Those who call Arizona, Oklahoma, or Texas home can expect the privilege of same-day delivery as soon as February 15.
As much as we love cart racing with strangers to the just-opened checkout line, we think we are going to take full advantage of Target’s latest breakthrough. Happy online shopping everyone!
