At yesterday's Super Bowl in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Pink took to the mic to sing the National Anthem and handled it like a total boss. Her performance was powerful, leaving the audience with goosebumps galore. And all of this despite the fact that the mom of two is fighting off the flu. (Awful!) Not that we would expect anything less from the hard-working pop star. That said, given how absolutely devastating this year's flu season has been, the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) urges people to stay home if they're battling the bug!
Of course this performance was something that Pink had dreamed about her whole life. Before Super Bowl Sunday, she shared a still of herself to Instagram writing, "Trying to practice the flu away. I’ve been waiting to sing this song since 1991 when I saw my idol, Whitney Houston, own this song. And now, my chance has finally come. And it just so happens that this chance comes when I have two small Petri dish kids who literally cough INTO MY MOUTH and rub their snot on my cheek. You can’t write this stuff I swear! And here we are. I’ve arrived at another one of my dreams which is slowly becoming a sort of nightmare. I will tell you, this is one of the biggest honors of my life, singing this song in front of my family, my military family, my dad and brother and step mama and family and the world. And the EAGLES!?!?! I promise I will do my best, as I always do. As far as the gremlins that got me into this mess, you can cough at me for the rest of your lives. If it’s a contest, babies, you win. #spreadthelove #spreadthegerms #pleasegivememyvoiceback #ificansingimgonnakillit"
In other words, Pink really is every mom. What an important reminder that whether they're tackling a big assignment or making a life-long dream come true, so many moms just have to put their nose to the grindstone and do the damn thing while fighting off some nasty bug (courtesy of her kids, likely!). And that's precisely what Pink did. So awesome.
She also shared a few intimate shots from behind-the-scenes of the big show, like these adorable photos of her baby boy Jameson.
And this sweet pic with her husband Carey Hart.
Carey also shared a shot of Pink and Willow on the field, writing, "I am beyond proud of this woman. The roller coaster that she went through this last week with getting sick and losing her voice would have broke any ordinary person. She laced up her boots, got through a 90 minute set Friday night, and fucking killed the super bowl today. Oh and sang live by the way. She is the hardest working in show business and i couldn’t be more proud of her. You f**king rule, baby ? @pink"
After she nailed the Anthem, she shared this photo of the crowd, cheering Justin Timberlake on for his halftime show, joking, "I've been opening for you since I started lol and I'm not even mad."
If you missed the powerful performance, here it is!
Seriously, could we love this supremely talented celeb mom any more?
