Andy Samberg and Joanna Newsom are officially parents and nobody saw it coming!
We all know when it comes to Hollywood, everything is public knowledge. That's why the media went crazy yesterday when Andy Samberg confirmed to Us Weekly that he and his wife Joanna Newsom are officially parents to a baby girl. The hush-hush couple has yet to release a name or official date of birth, which comes as no surprise considering the comedian and musician seem to work hard at keeping their lives private.
Briefly, Newsom, known for her talent on the harp, hinted at wanting a baby back in December 2015 when speaking to Larry King. “Little harpist Samberg, thank you for putting that image in my head,” she told the radio host after fielding his questions about starting a family.
Meanwhile, Samberg believes his sleepless nights as an SNL cast member prepared him for fatherhood. "I’ve been trained with Saturday Night Live," he told Us Weekly. "When you work there, you don’t sleep."
One thing the blissful couple isn't secretive about is their love for one another. Newsom, 35, couldn't contain her smiles when she gushed to Larry King. "He’s my favorite person in the world. He’s the person I would most want to hang out with at any given moment,” she said. “He’s probably the biggest super fan of my music."
It turns out Samberg, 38, had been crushing on his now wife before the two were set up through mutual friends. “He liked her music and would go to her shows,” the source told Us in 2013. “He had the biggest crush on her.”
Nothing is better than a true love story—especially when it involves two celebrities in a successful marriage. Congratulations to the happy couple on expanding their family!
