Marion Bilich, PhD, on Answering Your Child's Questions

What should I say when my child asks if we're going to war?

Question

What should I tell my school-age child when she asks if we're going to war?

Answer

We should explain to our children that going to war doesn't mean that there's going to be fighting near their home.

Reassure your child that her parents and teachers and the government are doing everything they can to protect children and their families. Our government, our military, and our local police and fire departments are all working to protect us, even though sometimes we won't know all the details. But everything they do will be to protect us.
