Hear ye, hear ye: Despite a months-long pandemic and health concerns, Girl Scouts of the USA kicks off the 2021 cookie season today—and they're celebrating with a delicious new cookie called Toast-Yay. Finally, some good news in the age of COVID-19.

"Amid challenging world events and a global pandemic this year, Girl Scouts created moments of joy by donating cookies to thank frontline workers and using the cookie earnings to support their communities," Girl Scouts of the USA said in a press release. "When Girl Scout Cookie season returns, Toast-Yay! will give consumers a new way to celebrate these moments alongside other favorites."

Toast-Yay, a French toast-inspired cookie dipped in icing, may very soon join the ranks of Thin Mints, Samoas, and Tagalongs as a top-selling Girl Scout Cookie. It's even shaped like a little piece of bread. Plus, now you have one more excuse to eat your Girl Scout Cookies for breakfast!

So Girl Scout Cookie Season is officially here, but you'll see some changes in 2021 and likely the years to come. Here's the scoop.

Will Girl Scout Cookie Season Still Happen With COVID-19?

Luckily, yes. As the COVID-19 pandemic became widespread, Girl Scouts quickly shifted things online to keep girls safe. And, yes, that included putting more of an emphasis on virtual cookie sales.

Through Girl Scouts Cookie Care, a national platform for safely putting in an order for your cookie fix online, customers have been able to stock up on their favorites and even send cookies to first responders—all without leaving home.

While some in-person Girl Scout Cookie sales may still happen depending on local guidelines, you'll definitely be able to purchase cookies online or through "virtual cookie booths" on social media during the 2021 cookie season. Simply reach out to a Girl Scout—or, of course, a parent of a Girl Scout—you know to find out how they're selling their cookies.

On top of that, Girl Scouts is collaborating with delivery platform Grubhub to make contact-free delivery even easier amid the pandemic.

Don't know a Girl Scout? You can search for your zip code to find a cookie booth near you and start ordering online on February 1.

When Can You Buy Girl Scout Cookies?

The 2021 Girl Scout Cookie season officially starts on January 12 and nationwide online ordering begins on February 1, but you can contact your local council all year long for more information about sale dates and specific cookie availability.

But, remember: Girl Scout Cookie season can happen anytime if you freeze 'em, so stock up!

What Do Girl Scout Cookies Support?

Girl Scout Cookie sales are an investment back into the community—and directly impact participating girls. With over 1.7 million Girl Scouts, every cookie purchase funds the troops, as well as leadership experiences and community projects that help to boost confidence, promote entrepreneurship, and teach critical life skills.
