Preparing for Baby's arrival can be oh-so fun—and oh-so overwhelming, especially when it's time to sort through a baby registry. There's only so many books you can read and websites you can scour before you have to choose from a plethora of items all seemingly perfect for your little bundle of joy.

Walmart is aiming to give parents-to-be a little relief with those pre-baby duties: Today, the retail giant launched an interactive new registry with a few special features.

"When talking with customers, we kept hearing one key theme—that starting a baby registry is incredibly overwhelming and they’d like a more filtered list to begin their planning," says Lauren Uppington, vice president and general manager of Baby at Walmart eCommerce. "So, we’ve made it easier for parents to create, manage and add items to their registry, all while adding a personal touch."

Mom, dad or both, can say hello to a virtual new friend: Hoo the Owl.

The chatbot helps expedite the registry process by asking a slew of questions, including the baby's due date, gender, and preferred nursery theme. And there's a few of those to choose from. Along with the already existing themes—boho chic, modern grey, and classic options for baby boys and girls—Walmart is introducing four new nursery themes to boot. Think woodland, modern options for male and female tots, and a gender-neutral option for those keeping the sex a surprise or those not conforming to gender stereotypes.

The little owl then provides product recommendations based on the information provided.

That could be useful for parents who may have a little trouble narrowing down their picks when choosing from the thousands of products available. There's also a bunch of new brands like Chicco, Monbébé, and Hello Bello, the affordable baby line hilarious Hollywood couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard launched at Walmart back in February.

Wait, there's more! Since 8 in 10 moms use their mobile phone to create their baby registry, according to Walmart, the company’s mobile app was also enhanced. Features make it easy for registrants to create and share their registry with family and friends, who can also use the app to shop.

"We want to be there for mom and dad with everything they are looking for, and through experiences that make shopping for those items easy and fun. Today’s announcement is the latest in that effort, and we have plenty more to come," adds Uppington.
