Meghan Markle didn't wait long to debut her baby bump. Just hours after she and Prince Harry announced that they were expecting, the Duchess of Sussex gave the world a glimpse of her growing stomach during the first leg of the couple's Australian tour.
According to People, the royal donned a fitted white dress by Australian designer Karen Gee for a welcome reception at Sydney's Admiralty House, which was hosted by the Governor General Peter Cosgrove and his wife, Lady Lynne Cosgrove. Though Markle is just three months along, the subtle bump was definitely visible—especially from the side. The couple's decision to break the Duchess' pregnancy news this morning is likely linked to these new Australian adventures. It's currently summer down under, which would have made hiding Markle's obvious pregnancy uncomfortable and difficult (it would have been much too hot for coats!).
The soon-to-be parents received more than just a warm welcome upon their arrival. The Cosgroves presented the couple with their first official baby gift—a fluffy stuffed kangaroo (complete with a baby joey!) and Ugg booties. "That's so cute, it's our first baby gift," Markle said.
Though the Duchess currently has a busy sixteen days ahead of her (the couple will visit New Zealand, Tonga, and Figi over the next two weeks), sources close to the couple report that the future mother is "feeling well" and up to the challenge at the 12-week mark. According to a statement from Kensington Palace, she and her husband were thrilled to finally share the news with the world: "Their Royal Highnesses have appreciated all of the support they have received from people around the world since their wedding in May and are delighted to be able to share this happy news with the public."
