We’ve all been there—it’s the morning of Thanksgiving, and you realize that you’ve forgotten to pick up that extra can of cranberry sauce your mother needed or haven’t baked that batch of cheese straws your aunt requested. Don’t panic—there’s probably an open grocery store in your area. Make a quick trip to grab what you need, and you’re dish will be ready in time for Thanksgiving dinner.
Here’s a list of what grocery stores are open on Thanksgiving:
Other stores that will be open but specific hours depend on location include Walgreens (stores as well as pharmacies), Kroger, Walmart, BI-LO, Winn-Dixie, CVS, Target, and Albertsons.
Stores that will be closed on Thanksgiving Day include Costco, Publix, Sam’s Club, and Aldi.
If you notice that the planned Thanksgiving spread is looking a little sparse, there are plenty of easy, last-minute recipes you can whip up the morning of to help round out the menu—from a seasonal salad to mac and cheese to pumpkin pie.
And if you have forgotten an ingredient for the sweet potato casserole or whipped cream for the pumpkin pie and can’t make it to the grocery store, don’t sweat it. Thanksgiving is all about family and friends gathering together, and that’s what everyone will be focusing on.
