Police in California have issued a plea to the public for help in their continuing search for a missing 15-year-old girl.

On Thursday, an AMBER Alert was issued in Los Angeles for Alora Benitez, who was last seen with her mother and an adult male.

Her mother and the man are suspects in the murder of a man in Carson on Tuesday.

According to police, Alora’s mother, 40-year-old Maricela Mercado, and Roman Cerratos, 39, are wanted by police in the death of a man found Tuesday behind the wheel of a suspiciously-parked Audi.

Both should be considered “armed and dangerous,” police said.

Police say Alora was last seen leaving Torrance with her mother and Cerratos in a white 2013 BMW, four-door sedan with the Nevada license plate MARIMAR.

Anyone who sees Alora, her mother, or Cerratos is urged to immediately call 911.

Authorities described Cerratos as a Hispanic male, standing at about 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighing about 210 lbs. He is bald and has brown eyes.

Mercado is described as a Hispanic female who is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing about 130 lbs., with brown hair and brown eyes.

Alora is also Hispanic, standing 5 feet 2 inches tall and weighs about 100 lbs. Her hair and eyes are both brown.

Other information pertinent to the investigation should be directed to Detective Lawler or Detective Blagg with the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department at (323) 890-5500.
