Ease back-to-school jitters with this brief tip on helping your kid find friends.
Is your child worried about making friends as school begins? I'm Dr. Eileen Kennedy-Moore with a quick back to school tip. When my children were younger, before the start of the school year, I used to tell them, "Somewhere in your new class, is a girl or boy who's just waiting to be your friend." They'd ask, "What does she look like?" or "What's his name?" and I'd say, "I don't know." Then we talk about some clues that could help them recognize their new friend-- maybe someone smiling at them or sitting next to them or playing with them at recess. This is a great way to set the stage for friendship and to help your child be more excited about school.
