  • mini pumpkin
  • black permanent marker
  • feather boa
  • ruler
  • kid-friendly scissors

Directions:

  1. Use a pencil to outline a face on the pumpkin, then have your child fill in the features with a black permanent marker. Let dry to prevent smudging.
  2. Cut a 5-inch section from a feather boa, and glue it to the top of the pumpkin, surrounding the stem.
  3. Glue a black paper witch's hat to the top of the feather boa. Let dry.

The Witch Hat

To make our witch's hat, trace templates onto black paper and cut out. For the base, starting at the center of the circle, cut out 1 1/2 inch tabs, as shown. Fold tabs up. For the top, fold paperinto cone, as shown. Secure with double-sided tape. Slip the cone over the base and glue to tabs. Let dry.

There's no carving necessary to make a ghostly gourd. For this Halloween craft, you'll need a butternut squash, paint and paint brushes, and some fun accessories to bring the gourds to life.
