This trendy costume turns your child into a cell phone snapshot come to life.
1. Trim a sheet of foam core and a sheet of black poster board to 20 by 28 inches. Trace lids and plastic caps on the board to make phone details, including corners, as shown. Cut out the shapes. Mark and cut out an interior rectangle that's 1 1/2 inches in from the sides, 3 inches from the top, and 3 1/2 inches from the bottom.
2. On the foam core, sketch a figure. Cut out a large oval for the head and a small oval for a hand. Paint the hair, body, and background. Once the paint is dry, sand the edges of the ovals. With a glue stick, attach the poster board frame to the foam core. Trim the corners of the foam core to match.
3. Attach two 30-inch lengths of grosgrain ribbon with duct tape to the foam core where shown. Cross the ribbons over your child's back and secure the ends to the bottom corners with adhesive-backed Velcro dots.
Crafter's Tip: For a closer fit, attach the Velcro dots after your child has put on her trick-or-treating clothes.
