I keep seeing infants (Cleveland,Ohio) going in and out of malls & stores with no coats, jackets, hats, gloves...NOTHING. So I googled this question and my search led me to Parent Magazine and something about car seats and children's jackets. Are parents so selfish and self-absorbed that they cannot be bothered to adjust the straps on their children's carseats? And if you are too lazy to put a coat on your child could you at least provide them with a blanket? It is really sickening to watch. Perhaps you could adjust your advice to parents about keeping children appropriately dressed. The irony is that the parents themselves are all decked out in their winter garb. Rule of thumb is that if you need a coat so does your child. Can you adjust your advice to include some common sense? There appears to be a shortage of it these days and many parents need advice spelled out for them very carefully. Perhaps you could do an article about how to take your baby to the mall. Some common sense ideas like bringing a stroller so your toddler doesn't end up crying and trailing behind you for 3 hours (yes, I work at a mall and unfortunately see everything) also, taking their coats off so they are not overheated. Here's another one, not making a toddler responsible for a package. yes, I once watched a toddler berated by her mother for loosing a package the child was responsible for carrying. To this grandma it really looks like a world gone mad. I am so grateful for 2 daughters-in-law who use their own judgement when it comes to dressing their children appropriately and while they read articles about child care, they don't blindly obey everything they read.
So, you promote advent calendars, with places to download templates only to ask for email addresses again that go nowhere, not even to enter the template one is trying to download. Why does your system have to be so difficult to navigate. your techies understand the process, but what about the average young parent?
I wanted to compliment you on the gay parents cover story on your magazine. LBGTQ folks are part of the community too, many of them are parents. I was glad to see you magazine's editorial board has enough openness and is insight to run such an article. I don't want to see anybody be excluded from life. Tim H. I love the front cover of the latest Parents Magazine! Regardless of any groups that are against same sex parents, the time has arrived for All parents and their love for their children to be recognized. Kudos to Meredith Corporation for heading to the front of the line on this. Alice McNeill
