Sabra Hummus Has Been Recalled Due to Listeria
Time to find a new starter for your Thanksgiving table, STAT!
Sabra classic hummus is a pretty big staple in our house, so this news is a serious bummer: The company is recalling the majority of its hummus after listeria was found at the company's manufacturing facility (though not, thankfully, in the actual product).
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems, so this recall should not be taken lightly. It can also lead to miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
Sabra Guacamole, Sabra Salsa, and Sabra Greek Yogurt Dips are not included in this recall and are safe for consumption. But almost all Sabra hummus has been affected—with the sole exception of Sabra Organic—so if you have any of this stuff in the house like we do, you're going to want to check out the Best Before dates on those lids ASAP. Any container with a date up to and including January 23, 2017 should be tossed right away.
You can also click here to check out a full list of the affected products, which includes flavors like Caramelized Onion, Red Pepper, Sun Dried Tomato, and my family's current fave, Spinach & Artichoke.
