Prenatal Yoga: Supported Bound Ankle Pose

This pose, also known as Supta Baddha Konasana, will open your chest and hips. It can also help alleviate any shortness of breath, a symptom that you may have during your first trimester due to rising levels of the hormone progesterone, as well as your third trimester as your baby grows and takes up more room in your belly. -So now we're gonna come in to another pose for the first trimester called Supta Baddha Konasana or Bound Angle Pose. And it's a really nice restful, restored of pose. So you'll need a blanket, have it fold twice any old blanket will do or even just a bath towel and then roll it. Make sure there's no big lumps in the blanket to distract your rest. Then take the blanket lengthwise on your mat if you don't have a mat, that's fine, we don't even need the mat for this pose. And then just line up the blanket with your tailbone and take your hands beside you lengthen the lower back between the soles of your feet together to have a nice hip opening stretch. And then line the blanket up with your spine just nice and straight, take the top any blanket that's left over or under your [unk] or you can also use a pillow to make it more restful. And then take your arms down by your side, it's really typical to experience shortness of breath during pregnancy and this can help alleviate any shortness of breath as it's a chest opener and it's also a hip opener to alleviate any hip pain. And you can even close your eyes here. Since this is a resort of pose you're free to hold this from anywhere to 5 to 15 minutes. And if you are experiencing anxiety, you can bring your hands to your belly and repeat as we you exhale all as well. You can repeat that as many times as you need to, all as well. Taking a moment to bond with the baby developing inside of you, taking long smooth breaths and after holding this, you can bring your palms-- your left arm at by your ear and roll over to the left hand side so we can pause you for a breath just to let yourself adjust, rest down to the right palm [unk] be happy.
