Katie, age 11, and her cousin went to the Gaylord National Resort in Washington, D.C. at Christmastime. They went on a scavenger hunt, saw Santa and other fun characters, and explored ICE!, an outdoor area with giant ice sculptures.
Hi, I'm Katy, and my mom works for Parents Magazine. She took me and my younger cousin to the Gaylord National Resort in Washington, DC during Christmas time. And it's like the North Pole. We had so much fun decorating gingerbread houses and going on a scavenger hunt around the hotel for a prize at the end. We also told Santa what we wanted from Christmas. And that characters from Shrek and Madagascar. My cousin and I agreed that our favorite part was Ice. And outdoor tented area with giant colorful ice sculptures. The theme we went was Twas the Night Before Christmas, but it changes every year. It's really cold in there, so they loan you a parka to wear over your coat. I thought it was too bulky, but it kept me warm while my cousin and I went down the ice slide over and over again. I'm counting down until we can go again this year when the theme is Frosty the Snowman.
