Walt Disney World Finally Offers Character Makeovers for Adults
Because your four-year-old isn’t the only one who deserves dress-up fun.
One of the hardest reservations to get at Walt Disney World isn’t for a restaurant or ride—it’s an appointment at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique, the beauty salon that gives 3- to 12-year-olds princess hairstyles that by some miracle (or is it Disney Magic?) remain picture-perfect through all the rides and heat. If you ever felt a little jealous when you saw those glam up-dos or shimmery nails, you can get in on the fun!
Several salons at Disney hotels have started offering Character Couture makeovers, with hair, makeup, and nail designs inspired by Disney characters. No character is off limits! You could totally rock Rapunzel, for instance, or head into villain territory with Cruella de Vil. “This is all about creating a stylish, new way for guests to have fun and be creative,” says Joseph Motowidlak, guest experience manager at Walt Disney World Spas. “Our makeover experts consult with guests to create a character-inspired look that captures their personality and Disney style.”
You can choose from three packages: Storybook Style ($80, hairstyle only); Magical Makeover ($105, hair and makeup); and Timeless transformation ($120, hair, makeup, and nails). You can also book an appointment for you and your child. Character Couture for kids ages 4 to 12 costs $30 less per package. Imagine how fun it could be to pull off a mother-daughter look, like Ursula and Ariel or Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother. The services are currently available in four locations: Ivy Trellis Salon at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort; Salon by the Springs at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge; La Vida Salon at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort; Ship Shape Salon at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club.
If you’re wondering what you’ll do for a costume, try Disney’s Dress Shop Collection. We’re swooning over the styles, especially the Minnie Mouse sweetheart dress. You can buy it at The Dress Shop at Cherry Lane at Disney Springs or online. How cute would it be for Halloween?
