7 New Theme Park Rides Opening in 2019
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Disney California Adventure Park, Anaheim
In this new land—the largest ever created by any Disney park—your family will journey to Batuu, a never-before-seen planet. There are two main attractions: Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run (where some riders get to pilot the ship) and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance (the journey takes your family inside a full-size starship). Your crew will also be able to meet Star Wars favorites, like BB-8, Finn, and Chewbacca. Expect Galaxy’s Edge in Anaheim to open on May 31 before Walt Disney World debuts it on August 29.

Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Orlando
Your Cars fan will go wild for this elaborate stage show with opportunities to meet the racers (cue, Instagram!). “The last incarnation of that space had places for parents to sit and charge phones, plus snack stands. I'm anticipating something similar,” says Len Testa, author of the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World. Expect it to roll into town on March 31.

Jessie’s Critter Carousel
Disneyland Resort’s California Adventure Park, Anaheim
Your kids will rope you into taking a spin on the carousel themed after Toy Story’s Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl and her animal friends. It opens at in the Pixar Pier section—home to other favorites like the Incredicoaster—in April.

Lego Movie World
Legoland Florida Resort, Winter Haven
Bricksburg, a new land and home of Emmet and friends in The Lego Movie World, features three rides, meet and greets, and a giant playscape inspired by Benny’s spaceship. Your kids will especially love Unikitty’s Disco Drop, which takes riders on a rainbow-filled journey. The new attractions will open on March 27.

Starting on May 3, you can become a Reese’s agent trainee to help protect a factory from candy invaders. This gaming experience that even engages your sense of smell!
