Tokyo Disney Resort Is Building Anna & Elsa’s Castle—and There Will Be a Restaurant Inside Too

It's one of three epic Disney-themed lands your kids are going to obsess over. This is one vacation destination you will never forget.

If Tokyo isn’t already on your family’s bucket list, write it in! Tokyo DisneySea (one of two theme parks at Tokyo Disney Resort) just announced a major expansion that includes a castle sure to melt the hearts of Frozen fans, a tower for Rapunzel, and an attraction that immerses guests in Pixie Hollow. You have a little while to save up, as the expansion isn’t expected to open until 2022.

The castle will be the focus of a Frozen-themed section of the park, designed to make you feel like you’re walking through Arendelle. It will include a restaurant—no word on whether they’ll have character meet-and-greets, but how could they not? The section will also offer a boat ride that tells the story of Anna and Elsa. Your kids probably don’t need a refresher on the plot, but it’ll be fun with the music anyway.

Another area of the park will be themed after the movie Tangled. Rapunzel’s tower will catch your eye first, but a gondola ride re-creating Rapunzel’s “best day ever,” as she journeys with Flynn to the Lantern Festival might be your family fave. Remember how beautiful that scene was in the movie?

The third new area will be Neverland, featuring Captain Hook’s pirate ship, Skull Rock, and Pixie Hollow. A boat ride (Notice a theme here?) will let families follow the Lost Boys down a river while Tinkerbell sprinkles the boat with Pixie Dust.

If you’re thinking, “Why can’t Disney do this in Orlando or Anaheim?” take solace in the fact that some major attractions are opening in the U.S. this month. You’ll be able to check out Toy Story Land and take a spin on a Slinky Dog Dash coaster starting on June 30. And if your kiddos get even more obsessed with The Incredibles after watching the new movie, they’ll be able to go on an Incredibles-themed coaster at Disneyland Resort’s California Adventure Park beginning June 23.
