Take a look at the cruise ship built with both kids and adults in mind because vacation should be about both fun and relaxation.

By Lauren Pardee

It's hard enough to find time in your family's collective schedules for a much-needed vacation together. Add uncovering a destination that's kid-friendly, relaxing, budget-accommodating, and all-around convenient and it can feel like mission impossible—but it doesn’t have to. Ditch the stress and endless research by planning an all-in-one vacation route. Parents.com took a tour of the Carnival Horizon cruise ship to see if it has what it takes to make all family members smile.

The 3,954-passenger ship from Carnival is the 26th ship in their fleet. Once we stepped on board, it’s safe to say we were impressed. Here is a quick breakdown of our favorite features your family can enjoy while setting sail.

Cruise activities for kids:

Dr. Seuss Waterworks

The new onboard Dr. Seuss-themed waterpark is every thrill-seeking kid’s dream come true. The Cat’s Hat slide and the Fun Things slide are the park’s main appeal while smaller features such as racing slides, a massive tipping top-hat full of water, and spray toys—just to name a few—will keep your kids refreshed and entertained in the most vacation-friendly way. Even parents can channel their inner child among either of the two larger waterslides.

SportsSquare

As the dry counterpart to Dr. Seuss Waterworks, Sportsquare is all about playtime on a bigger scale. Test your fear of heights with SkyRide, a suspended bike lane where you can peddle around above the upper deck, or try your hand at the SkyCourse, the cruise’s very own ropes course also located above the upper deck. Peak your competitive edge in the Clubhouse where you will find mini-bowling, outdoor soccer, volleyball, ping pong, and more. The SkyGreen also offers a putting green and a basketball court.

Carnival Multiplex

With two movie theaters to pick from—the IMAX theater and Thrill Theater—you can enjoy your favorite screenings from one massive screen or a 3D screen with interactive seats, both guaranteed elevate your experience to new heights.

Camp Ocean

If your kids are between the ages of 2-11 they can be supervised in age-based groups while being entertained with ocean-themed activities and entertainment. Each counselor has a background in childcare education or experience and is well-practiced in educating and entertaining all kids onboard.

Cruise activities for adults:

Cloud 9 Spa

Just because your kids are on this vacation doesn’t mean you don’t deserve some TLC. Massages, facials, and body wraps may help with that. Cloud 9’s attention to detail is incredible with their thermal suites that offer moist and dry air, each precisely heated with comfort in mind.

Serenity Adult-Only Retreat

With the keywords being "adult-only," this is the ideal getaway for enjoying activities you don’t get to do on a day-to-day basis. Make time with your partner for reconnecting, enjoy a nice book or podcast, or even take in some peace and quiet—Serenity helps you accomplish much needed me-time. Don’t forget to check out the chopped salad station available on sea days.

Alchemy Bar

We can’t forget about cocktails this vacation. Find yourself at the vintage-themed cocktail “pharmacy” where a cocktail specialist prescribes you something customized from the bar. With both non-alcoholic and alcoholic options available, you will find yourself at the Alchemy Bar making custom concoctions throughout your stay.

Lip Sync Battle

In partnership with the hit Spike TV Series, "Lip Sync Battle," vacation is your time to shine, no matter your singing abilities. Bring you’re A-game while on stage by channeling your favorite hit-makers in the performance of a lifetime. If you have what it takes to make it to the finals, the cruise will provide you with music, lighting, props, choreographers, and backup dancers—a show guaranteed to blow your family and the audience away.
