The best-selling authors of "The Nanny Diaries," Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, talk motherhood and their latest book, "The First Affair."
-Parents caught up with the best-selling authors of The Nanny Diaries, Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus, upon the release of their new book, The First Affair. Both now moms, they tell us their secrets behind their success and what keeps them writing as moms. -With Nanny Diaries, we were galvanized by wanting to make the statement on behalf of the women we worked alongside. We try to write the kinds of stories that we like to find a time to read now that we're moms. We like to write stories about some aspect of being a woman that hopefully resonates with everybody. -All of our stories are pitting a woman against popular culture who's just trying to hold on to her integrity which is definitely a way-- a way to describe motherhood. With The First Affair, we wanted to explore a really sexy but really complicated scenario that a woman was trying to think a way free from. -We never imagined that Nanny was going to create a very large career change for us or that we'd be talking about our seventh book 13 years later. -For more about Emma and Nicola, what keeps them writing, what inspires them, secrets behind The Nanny Diaries and their favorite books for kids, check out the full interview at Parents.com.
