Professional soccer icon David Beckham celebrated his 43rd birthday on Tuesday which got us thinking: What do you get the man who has it all? (An incredible career, wealth, fame, drop-dead good looks—we could go on forever.) Well, it appears the Beckham family was already on top of that debacle by flying Beckham’s oldest child, Brooklyn, home to London for a surprise visit. Brooklyn, who attends school at Parsons in NYC, hopped straight off the plane to spend the day with his father, which resulted in a beautifully tear-jerking reunion. This is one of those videos you can’t help but watch on repeat—it’s that feel-good. Sidenote: Can we all agree that seeing Beckham as an incredible father makes him even more dreamy?
We’re not crying, you’re crying. OK, maybe we are crying. But come on, how sweet is this moment? Beckham—who grasps his chest in pure shock—can’t mask his shaky voice and glossy eyes as he repeats softly, “What are you doing here?” (Yes, we too read this in a British accent.)
The father-son duo whose resemblance is uncanny, if we do say so, embrace for an extended amount of time as they whisper back and forth. As if things couldn’t get any more charming, Beckham’s only daughter, Harper, chimes in with the most adorable accent ever, "I didn't know Brooklyn was coming!"
The Beckham family is clearly #goals if you didn't already suspect so. Happy birthday to the legend!
