Easy Family Crafts for the Olympics
Try these kid-friendly crafts as you watch the Olympic athletes compete for gold.

Torches
What you’ll need:
- Flashlight
- Gold cardstock
- Red, yellow, orange tissue paper
- Scissors
- Clear tape
- Ruler
- Pencil
Make It:
- Cut a piece of cardstock to cover the handle of the flashlight. Make sure to cut out button hole in paper.
- Tape paper around flashlight with clear tape.
- Cut a strip of cardstock to cover the head of the flashlight (the part where bulb is). Set aside.
- Cut flames from tissue paper in 3 different heights: 4”, 3”, 2”.
- Tape flames, shortest first, to the back of the cardstock strip.
- Tape cardstock strip with flames around the head of the flashlight.

Luge
What You'll Need:
- Toy cars
- Small beads
- Flag toothpicks
- 4’ of corner molding (2)
- White duct tape
- Hot glue gun
Make It:
- Break end of toothpick so only about ¾” remains past the bottom edge of the flag.
- Hot-glue small bead to the back corner of the car. Hot glue end of toothpick into the bead’s hole.
- To make the luge track, lay two pieces of molding on the floor so they are evenly matched. Adhere a strip of white duct tape down the center. Flip it over and attach another piece on the back for sturdiness.

What You'll Need:
- Jar lids
- Mod Podge
- Foam brush
- Glitter (gold, silver, bronze)
- Dimensional number stickers
- Red, white, blue ribbon
- Scissors
- Glue
Make It:
- Pour glitter into a bowl that’s wider than the jar lid.
- Coat jar lid in mod podge. Dredge jar lid in glitter and flip over to let dry.
- Coat numbers (1, 2, or 3) in mod podge and dip into glitter. Let dry.
- Once dry, glue number to the center of the jar lid.
- Glue 2 ends of a piece of 18” ribbon to the back of the jar lid to create necklace.

Balloon Hockey
What you’ll need:
- Wrapping paper tubes
- Craft paint
- Paint brush
- Cardboard scraps
- Utility knife
- Scissors
- Duct tape
- Boxes
- Balloons
Make It:
- Cut a 12”x4” “hockey stick blade” from scrap cardboard.
- Cover blade in duct tape.
- Paint wrapping paper tube and let dry.
- Cut 2 1” slits opposite each other on the end of the wrapping paper tube and slide one end of the hockey stick blade into the slits. Secure with duct tape.
- Set 2 boxes on either side of the room and challenge kids to score the inflated balloon into the opponent’s goal!

Olympic Rings
What You'll Need:
- 9” floral craft ring (5)
- Crepe paper rolls in red, black, green, blue, yellow
- Hot-glue gun
Make It:
- Wrap crepe paper around each ring, overlapping as you work. Secure with hot glue at each end.
- Hot-glue rings together to match the Olympic Rings.
