Add some fringed flair to a plain paper lantern.
Make decorating your child's first birthday party easy by using one material, crepe-paper. I'm gonna show you how to make this festive lantern that you can use to celebrate your child's first birthday. For this project you'll need crepe-paper, scissors, a hot glue gun, an 8 to 10 inch paper lantern and string. To start, the first thing you wanna do is cut strips of crepe-paper. If you'd like you can use regular streamers, but I'm using this sheets of crepe-paper because there is of much wider variety of colors. For 8-inch lantern, cut about seven strips of paper ranging from 10 to 30 inches. Take a strip and fold it over a few times about three or four and just fringe it with your scissors. You wanna leave about a quarter of an inch intact. The more you fold, the less cutting you'll have to do. Then just unfold it to see your fringy strips. To decorate your lantern just start at the bottom and glue the first strip around the lantern. Glue the next strip about 2-inches above the bottom one and repeat until you completely covered the paper lantern. Just attached the string to the metal hanger. And there you have it. You're ready for the party.
