“Even if there are no trick-or-treaters knocking on the door this year, it’s important to make our home feel festive to keep spirits up.”

Spooky Spiderweb Wreath

Halloween décor starts at the front door, which is why I ordered a wreath and wrapped it in glow-in-the-dark webbing. My kids love creepy-crawlies, so they helped by picking out some plastic spiders in different sizes for me to glue onto the custom wreath, and then I finished it off with a big ribbon.

  • Hampton Art 18" Grapevine Wreath
  • Halloween Super Glow Spider Web
  • Way To Celebrate Halloween Spider Confetti, 100 Count
  • Offray Orange Saddle Ribbon, 1 Each

Tricky Sensory Bin

A seasonal sensory bin gets kids thinking and using their verbal skills. I filled a large container with Halloween-themed objects meant to stimulate the senses, including a foam pumpkin and some plastic spiders. I had my kids cover their eyes and take turns figuring out what was inside the bin. They had a good giggle while they were guessing.

  • Way To Celebrate Halloween Large Party Tub, Orange, 18"
  • Way To Celebrate Sparkle Mini Foam Pumpkin
  • Way To Celebrate Halloween Glitter Spiders, Black, 8 Count

Kooky Scavenger Hunt

A themed scavenger hunt is perfect for entertaining little detectives. I used a white ink pen to write out a list of things for my kids to find, like a broom or something orange. This is a great way to boost observational skills and help kids become more aware of their surroundings. Don’t forget to add prizes to your list: Coloring books and sticker sheets are always big hits at our house. A Walmart+ membership saves me hours of time on supply runs for activities like this, which, as a busy mom, is the best benefit.

  • Sakura Gelly Roll Gel Pens, Opaque White, Fine Med & Bold Points 3 Pk
  • Crayola Trolls 2 Giant Coloring Pages, Trolls Gift for Kids, 18 Pages
  • Sticko Everyday Classic Smiley Emojis Stickers, 91 Piece

Many-Eyed Monster Cupcakes

This time of year is all about sweet treats, so I whipped up a batch of themed homemade cupcakes. I used our favorite mix and some colorful liners, and then the kids decorated them with bright frosting and delicious candy eyeballs. I let them make the mini monsters as scary or as silly as they wanted.

  • Duncan Hines Classic White Cake Mix 15.25 oz Box
  • Great Value Cupcake Liners, Pink/Yellow/White/Blue, 96 Count
  • Pillsbury Creamy Supreme Frosting, Vanilla, 16 Oz
  • Great Value Candy Eyeballs, 0.88 oz
