Fulgencio is a real name—it's from Latin originally, and it means brilliant and shining. Joseph, the middle name, fits perfectly with Jay's choices for his older kids, Mitchell and Claire. (No concerns about teasing there!) It's a classic name that means "Jehovah increases," and has topped the boys' name chart for nearly a century and a half.
Jay's already intimated that he's not ever going to call their child Fulgencio—which makes that middle name even more important. (And there are plenty of people who use their middle name in daily life—including a few in my family.)
What do you think of Gloria and Jay's choice? Would you be willing to make that sort of compromise for a family tradition—or would you hold your ground if you thought the name was a clunker?
