How We Chose Our Winners: Parents' Best for Baby Awards 2023 We reviewed and tested hundreds of baby products to make your transition into parenthood easier than ever. Choosing what goes onto your baby registry list can feel daunting. Will you be able to close this popular stroller with one hand? Will that high-tech swaddle actually help your baby sleep? Will you need a doctorate degree to set up that fancy bassinet? All of these thoughts are swimming through your head, in addition to mentally preparing for your transition into parenthood. That’s why we made it our job here at Parents to narrow down the top baby products for the 2023 Best for Baby Awards. To select this year’s winners, Parents’ editors, along with 100 caregivers, reviewed and tested more than 300 baby products, evaluating criteria based on ease of use, safety, cost, and overall user satisfaction. In addition, nearly 500 parents were surveyed to determine which tried-and-true products continue to be recommended to friends and family year after year. The process for testing and analyzing nominees was created by Parents editors with guidance from a panel of expert judges. Learn More About Our Process Vetted by Our Editors: We received more than 300 baby product submissions this year and all were thoughtfully considered by our team. Our editors reviewed each product based on safety qualifications, longevity, innovation, cost, and more. We then narrowed down the products to make sure our real parent testers were only testing top-tier products. Tested by Actual Parents: We enlisted 100 real parents with babies under 12 months to test the latest and greatest baby gear out in the wild. We then asked them to review the products on ease of use, durability, likeability, and more. On a scale from 1-5 for each, none of our winners scored below a 4.5. Approved by Our Panel of Expert Judges: To ensure that the 2023 Best for Baby Award winners represented a large breadth of parenting experiences, we brought together an impressive panel of parenting pros—whose expertise specialized in everything from radical birthwork to Black maternal health to twin parenting and more—to nominate, review, and approve the must-have baby products. Validated With Original Insights: Our data and research team surveyed 500 readers across the Dotdash Meredith brands with children 18 months and younger to find out what their favorite baby products were within the last year to bring you the tried-and-true favorites still topping people’s lists. Supported by Our Testing Lab: To make sure we put together the most comprehensive list, we also tapped into the expertise of the commerce team in our testing lab and the work they do on a daily basis. Each product they feature in product roundups and reviews is selected based on a deep analysis of consumer reviews and most are thoroughly tested through real-world hands-on experience by real parents or in our New York City testing lab.
