Will my baby's flat head spots improve?
Q: My child is 10 and a half months old. The left side of her head still has flat spots. Will they improve on their own as she grows?
A: By 10 months the head shape may still improve slightly if you are able to keep her from lying and sleeping on the flat area. However you are reaching the end of the growth period where the head shape is likely to improve. If the flattening is severe, I would check with your pediatrician to see if a head shaping helmet would be an option. If the flattening is not severe, your baby will likely grow hair over the area and it may not be noticable as she ages. If all of us were to shave our heads, there would be few kids under 20 with a perfectly round head shape. Read a more detailed answer about a baby's flattening head here.
