Tyra Banks Welcomes Baby Boy Via Surrogate
Banks has finally realized her dream of becoming a mom!
Tyra Banks must be 'smizing' today! That's because the model has welcomed a son, via surrogate, according to People. His name is York Banks Asla, and dad is Banks' Norwegian photographer boyfriend Erik Asla.
"We are so excited for our new baby boy bundle of joy. The journey to now has not been an easy process, as I've shared before. But there was a beautiful bright light at the end of the tunnel for me and his father, Erik," the actress said in a statement.

"As I gaze into the beautiful eyes of my son, I think about all the people who struggle with fertility or carrying a child and continue to pray for them every day," she added. "My hopes and dreams are filled with well wishes that they get to feel what my little treasure, York Banks Asla, feels like in my arms."
Banks previously opened up about wanting to have a child, saying, "When I turned 40, the one thing I was not happy about is that I did not have kids. When you're like, 'Okay, I'm just going to do it,' then it's not so easy as you get older." She has tried IVF without success.
But now that her dream of becoming a mother has come true, it seems Banks can't stop gushing with joy. She also took to Instagram to share her happy news with her fans, captioning a shot of a newborn baby hat with, "The best present we worked and prayed so hard for is finally here. He's got my fingers and big eyes and his daddy Erik's mouth and chin. As we thank the angel of a woman that carried our miracle baby boy for us, we pray for everyone who struggles to reach this joyous milestone. York Banks Asla, welcome to the world."
Here's wishing Tyra, Erik, and York every happiness as they start their lives as a family of three. Clearly, it was so worth the wait! And Tyra, thanks for taking this opportunity to give hope to other couples dealing with infertility. As a woman who has struggled to get pregnant, I know firsthand how lonely it can feel; it's truly helpful to know we are not alone.
