Meeting a new sibling is a special, sacred moment. I will never forget when my older daughters came to the hospital to meet their new baby sister for the first time. They fell as completely, head-over-heels in love with her as I already had. And I fell in love with my little family all over again!
New mom-of-three Hilaria Baldwin, who just welcomed son Leonardo Ángel Charles with her famous hubby Alec, recently shared the adorable first meeting of the family's new addition and his big sister Carmen, age 3, on Instagram. In the video, we see Carmen holding Leonardo singing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star," and then sweetly kissing his forehead. And yes, it's just as precious as it sounds.
"Leo's siblings came to meet him today," Baldwin captioned the too-cute-for-words clip, adding about her son Rafael, age 14 months, "Rafa is learning to be gentle so I couldn't get a good shot of them together...he was fascinated with poking the baby's eyes. But here is Carmen....being such a good big sister."
I had to laugh about the fact that Rafael was poking Leo's eyes. When my second daughter was born, her big sister, then 2, was similarly interested in putting her fingers in places they didn't belong, including her eyes, ears, and mouth. The good news? She soon learned there were more appropriate ways to interact with her new sibling, and I'm sure Rafa will too!
In the meantime, here's hoping the new Baldwin siblings continue to bond. I can guarantee that many, many memories between their kiddos, that are so worth cherishing, lie ahead.
How did your older child or children interact with their new baby sibling?
